Coffee With Strangers- Iced Coffee Drinker. Growing, growing, growing

"I'm not employed at the moment, but I am thinking of it more as my own decision. I'm taking time to rethink my life. I'm a History teacher... whoops! Used to be, for 13 years. I used to wake up at 6:30am and get home at 7pm. I'd then spend my evenings preparing lesson schedules and grading exams, only to go to bed and do it all again the next day.

I loved teaching and I miss it, but I didn't live the philosophy of the school or curriculum. The focus was only on being as productive as possible.

Kids were always stressed, they had no time to be children. I just don't believe that life should be like that and I definitely don't think that we should be teaching our children to live their lives with that senseless need to seek a new objective all the time. I mean, it can't always be about growing, growing, growing. There must be cycles.

So I'm taking a step back. My aim is to enrich myself without a predetermined objective. I'm reading, doing yoga, and participating in a dance class. I've also been coming here everyday, it's brought me alot of solace to just take the time to sit back and think, gaining perspective... coffee goes along way there of course as well!

But it's had to appreciate the moment. I've always put myself under such amazing pressure to work and... achieve outcomes. When i'm not doing it; when I'm not producing, it's hard to escape the guilt as if I am doing something wrong."
