Pishon Patisserie & Cake - Cafe
Next on my list for café hopping was Pishon Patisserie &
Cake Café.
This one is a must for any café regulars. Their wide variety
of cakes is just wonderful and despite their ‘that-looks-too-sweet’ look, they
are surprisingly well balanced cakes.
Their menu includes packaged pastries and breads, a
selection of cakes that you can buy whole for a party or reasonably-sized
slices to go with your drink. Speaking of drinks, they have a selection of
coffee’s, teas and iced drinks.
I went with two friends so we ordered a few cakes and a
drink each. The drinks we ordered were a latte, iced mocha and a green tea
latte. The hot drinks were nice and creamy with strong but subtle flavour and
the iced mocha surprisingly had a scoop of icecream in it. For the cakes, we got a cheesecake, an almond
roll cake, a matcha sponge cake and a mud cake that they called ‘death by
chocolate’. Each cake had a strong flavour to it but was not over-the-top.
Which is good, because then I can enjoy a few slices rather than feeling guilty
after one.
My gluttony aside, the interior style of the café was cute
and quirky but simple at the same time. Like XS Espresso, it had unique shelves
with various items displayed like a bus toy, an Eiffel tower figure and most
interesting, a miniature wing chun wooden dummy. The furniture aesthetic was
clean and simple with a bit of character thanks to the hints of colour in various
pieces.
This café is definitely in the higher ranks of café’s that I
go to because I can have different flavours that are well balanced and enjoy
snacks that don’t make me feel guilty afterwards.
If you’d like to try this yourself, Pishon is located at 77
Rowe Street, Eastwood, Sydney NSW
